Our Team

Nitya Ganapathy is the Co-Founder of Vidya Shakti for Girls, a US-based nonprofit empowering girl children in the United States and India through education, counselling, and coaching. The seeds of this mission were planted in 2012, when Nitya and her sister began a small, personal initiative – quietly supporting a handful of deserving girls through their own network and contacts. What started as a heartfelt act of service grew steadily, and in 2017, they formalized their vision by founding Vidya Shakti for Girls. Today, the organization has supported over 90 girls, with nearly 30+ alumni already educated and employed – a testament to the power of one small idea pursued with dedication.

Fueled by a lifelong passion for community service, Nitya brings over 30 years of information technology leadership to her nonprofit work. Her career spans senior IT management roles, entrepreneurial ventures, and hands-on experience implementing quality management systems – all of which she now channels into building a sustainable, impact-driven organization that transforms the lives of young girls and their families.
